Is there a benefit to using my personal social media to promote my small business brand?
Once social media came to the forefront of our society, branding started to look a little different. In the past, a brand was put together from the ground up. Sometimes, a spokesperson was hired to represent the brand but that was about as close to having an individual personality as the brand got.
Today, branding can develop a deep sense of closeness by piggybacking off the personal brand of the founder. Elon Musk does this with his companies. So does Martha Stewart. Bethenny Frankel used her personal brand to launch Skinnygirl Margaritas. You can create an impactful brand by connecting that brand to yourself, in both your advertising, and in your social media.
What if you aren’t an influencer? That’s okay. Lots of successful business owners are now recognized in conjunction with their business brand in a way that was inconceivable thirty years ago.
The reason this works is because it invites the customer into your world. It makes them feel like they are part of something and it makes them feel connected to you in a way that you wouldn’t ordinarily be able to do at scale.
